RENEWING THE MIND: Our actions are a direct result of the way we thin...

RENEWING THE MIND: Our actions are a direct result of the way we thin...: Our actions are a direct result of the way we think.  If you think negative thoughts you will have a negative life.  We must renew our mind ...
Our actions are a direct result of the way we think.  If you think negative thoughts you will have a negative life.  We must renew our mind according to God's word.  We are engaged in a spiritual war, our mind is the battlefield.  Our enemy is satan.  John 10:10 (NLT) The thief's (satan)  purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My (God's) purpose is to give you a rich and satisfying life.
Ephesians 2:1,2 (NLT) Once you were dead (spiritually) because of your disobedience and your many sins.  You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil; the commander of the powers in the unseen world.  He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God.
Romans 8:5,6 (NLT) Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit.
So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death, but letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.
God said that he would keep us in perfect peace when our minds are stayed on him, because we trust him.  How do we keep our minds stayed on him?  We have to read the bible.  How can you have a relationship with someone you don't know. How can you know how a person thinks unless  you spend time with them. In order for us to change our way of thinking, we have to be renewed in our mind.
Romans 12:1,2 (NLT) And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice, the kind he will find acceptable.  This is truly the way to worship him.  Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.  Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Some might say, well this is the way God made me, I worry about everything, I think negative thoughts, I have a bad temper, I am critical of other people, I have lustful thoughts, I have low self esteem, this is my personality.  God didn't make you that way.
Renewing the mind means to be transformed, to be changed completely.  The word metamorphosis is a complete change, like when a caterpillar becomes a butterfly.  When we allow the Holy Spirit to change us from a caterpillar to a butterfly, we will begin to fly and realize our full potential and accomplish great things.
When we allow the world or society to shape our way of thinking, we fail to have our minds renewed and to think the way God thinks.
Many Christians struggle with negative and sinful behavior, such as poor attitudes, lustful temptations, immorality, strife, fear, depression.
James 1:22 (KJV) But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
God knows what we need to live an abundant life, this is the reason why he gave us his word.
We must renew our minds by applying God's word to our every day lives and allow his word to transform us and change us totally and completely.
Joshua 1:8 (NLT) Study this book of instruction continually.  Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it.  Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.
Colossians 3:2 (KJV) Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
Titus 1:15 (KJV) Unto the pure all things are pure; but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure, but even their mind and conscience is defiled.
We not only have to read God's word, we also have to believe it.  Jesus said, I am the way, the truth and the life, no man comes to the father except through me.  God's word is truth.
John8:31,32 (KJV)  If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed; and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.
2Corinthians 10:4,5 (KJV) For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.  Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.
1Peter 1:13-16 (NLT) So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control.  Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world.
So you  must live as God's obedient children.  Don't slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires.  You didn't know any better then.  But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy.  For the scriptures say, you must be holy because I am holy.
Romans 12:9-18 (NLT) Don't just pretend to love others.  Really love them.  Hate what is wrong.  Hold tightly to what is good.  Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring one another.  Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically.  Rejoice in our confident hope.  Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying.  When God's people are in need, be ready to help them.  Always be eager to practice hospitality.  Bless those who persecute you. Don't  curse them, pray that God will bless them.  Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep.  Live in harmony with each other.  Don't be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people.  And don't think you know it all.  Never pay back evil with evil.  Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable.  Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.
Dear friends, never take revenge.  Leave that to the righteous anger of God.  For the scriptures say, "I will take revenge; I will pay them back," says the Lord.  Instead, If your enemies are hungry, feed them.  If they are thirsty, give them something to drink.  In doing this, you will heap burning coals of shame on their heads.
Philipians 4:8,9 (KJV) Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of a good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Those things, which you have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do; and the God of peace shall be with you.
